How do I join HUFSC?
The requirements are that you are a Harvard affiliate: a student (undergraduate or graduate), faculty, family members of faculty, or staff. The Athletics Department's policy unfortunately does not cover alumni and former affiliates. Please contact us if you are interested.
What does membership include?
You will receive information about upcoming club events, skating opportunities around the Boston area, and the rink schedule. Being a HUFSC member also gives you access to the HUFSC-Only Ice at the rink for $25/semester, paid directly to the co-presidents. Finally, as a club member, you can receive discounts on USFSA memberships, competition and testing expenses, and HUFSC gear.
What level do I have to be at to compete or perform?
In order to perform in certain shows, you can be at any level as long as you have a program. However, in order to compete you must comply with the USFSA regulations for each level. You can find out more at the USFSA website.
What is the weekly clinic all about? Who can attend?
The weekly clinic is a club event run by the two HUFSC coaches. At the clinic, the coaches usually lead a round of cardio-exercises on the ice before they help skaters learn and perfect different types of skating elements. We recently began a new clinic for beginners who want some support and structure on how to improve fundamental skating skills. The clinic is completely free and open to all HUFSC members, regardless of level. The coaches teach to the individual's skill level, so all skaters are welcome to attend!
What is the ice schedule?
Check out the Google Calendar on the Home Page for our monthly schedule. For a brief period during the summer, the rink is shut down for maintenance purposes.
